The number of passengers, using the Olympic Airlines web site www.olympicairlines.com to book tickets and travel is increasing rapidly.
Since the establishment of the Olympic Airlines web site, in February 2004, the number of passengers who made their bookings and got tickets from the carrier’s web site has substantially increased, and more than 600.000 passengers have used this service until now.
Passengers’ growing preference for our Internet services has brought an impressive 80% rise in the company’s revenues from Internet sales in January 2007 as compared to January 2006.
Our company has recently published its web site in French language. As a result, French speaking passengers can make Internet reservations from around the world regardless of the existence of Olympic Airlines flights at that country.
Furthermore, New Zealand and Poland have been recently added into the listed countries that passengers can make bookings for.
In addition, if you are member of our frequent fliers program ICARUS, you can earn bonus air miles when you make reservations though our corporate website. In detail, you can earn an extra 500 miles for one-way domestic flights in economy class and 750 miles for one-way domestic flights in business class. In international flights the bonus comes up to 1.000 miles for one-way flights in economy class and 1.500 miles for one-way flights in business class.
Passengers have the option to receive information about departure and arrival times as well as availability in Olympic Airlines flights, via mobile phone connections (OTE i-mode, Vodafone Live, Tim Wap). The airline’s web site also provides information about its frequent flyer program (ICARUS) and contact details for local offices in Greece and abroad.

Our top management priority is to offer comprehensive, efficient and effective electronic services as part of a strategy for the overall improvement of customer satisfaction.

Note: The Olympic Airlines corporate web site ( www.olympicairlines.com ) is published in Greek, English and French. In addition, customers in Germany, Italy and Spain can use our local web sites (www.olympic-airlines.de for Germany, www.olympic-airways.it for Italy and www.olympicairlines.es for Spain).

ÂAA Alert at UK Airports Media Statement - Additional Security Measures

Following this mornings police action, the Department for Transport have asked all UK airports to apply additional security measures designed to ensure passenger safety. These measures will prevent passengers from carrying hand luggage into the cabin of an aircraft with the following excepts (which must be placed in a plastic bag):

  • pocket size wallets and pocket size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags))

  • travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets)

  • prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (e.g. diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic

  • spectacles and sunglasses, without cases

  • contact lens holders, without bottles of solution

  • for those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger)

  • sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags)

  • female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (eg tampons, pads, towels and wipes)? tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs

  • keys (but no electrical key fobs)

All passengers must be hand searched, and their footwear and all the items they are carrying must be x-ray screened.

Pushchairs and walking aids must be x-ray screened, and only airport-provided wheelchairs may pass through the screening point.

In addition to the above, all passengers boarding flights to the USA and all the items they are carrying, including those acquired after the central screening point, must be subjected to secondary search at the boarding gate. Any liquids discovered must be removed from the passenger.

BAA wish to stress that these are precautionary measures. During the next few days airports will be extremely busy, therefore only those intending to fly should come to the airport. Passengers are also asked to use public transport to get to and from the airport wherever possible.

Passengers are asked to be patient while these additional security measures are put in place. Delays are likely and passengers are therefore asked to allow extra time for their journey.
